A brief history of Samsung phones

It’s hard to remember a time when Samsung wasn’t a major feature of modern life. The South Korean tech giants lead the way with so many products that we rely on day in, day out but it hasn’t actually been all that long since Samsung were the newbies in the market, up against the titans of Apple and (ahem) Nokia.

It’s been an impressive rise to the top of the Android market, and with the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S10, we thought it’d be a good time for a little retrospective, with a history of Samsung…

SH-100 – the beginning.

Okay, technically not the beginning, the history of Samsung starts when they were originally founded way back in 1938, and their electronics division’s been on the go since 1969, but the SGH-100 has the honour of being their very first mobile phone, released in Korea in 1988.

Samsung Galaxy – the next big thing.

First released in July 2009, the original Samsung Galaxy really put Samsung at the forefront of people’s minds when it came to Android. Samsung have been killing it in all corners and price ranges of the Android market from the Galaxy S series of phones, through to the Note series of tablets and phablets.

Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus: Samsung’s best phones to date

Their sleek, refined Infinity displays, coupled with dual-stereo surround sound speakers, with Dolby Atmos surround sound made for the most immersive viewing experience yet.

When it came to the camera, Samsung upped their game with the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. Both use a dual-aperture lens which works like the human eye, adjusting depending on the amount of light coming in. That means you get amazing shots no matter if you’re in bright daylight or low light.

And the new Infinity display and spectacular new range of colours made the S9 and S9 Plus gorgeous to look at too.

We loved last year’s S9 and S9 Plus and with this year’s release just around the corner, we can’t wait to find out what Samsung have in store for us.
